How to make pickled cucumbers at home?
Ingredients
- 4 raw cucumbers, pealed and sliced
- 1 tablespoon grounded mustard seeds
- 1-2 Tbsp salt
- Filtered water
- Half a gallon sized mason jar
Process
- Take the cucumbers and place them in half a gallon sized mason jar.
- Add in the salt, mustard seeds and enough water to cover the cucumbers. The top of the water should be at least 1 inch below the top of the jar.
- Put on the lid of the jar tightly and keep it in a warm place for 5-7 days. It may require even more time if weather is cold or it’s winter season.
- After the cucumbers get pickled they will turn somewhat translucent and soft. You can check with a fork. If they are ready the fork will penetrate very easily otherwise not.
Note: The cucumbers may develop a white film over the top. You may think that they are rotten but it is something not to worry about. Just scrap it off and enjoy the pickles.
They are best enjoyed with the main course or with your main meal.
